Champs Vegan Diner
Champs is one of my favorite places to go on the weekends. It's in Brooklyn which is a bit of a schlep from where I live, but it's always worth it. I would travel 5 hours each way to eat at Champs if I had to. Champs Diner offers just about ANY menu item you'd find on your typical diner menu, except everything is vegan! I've eaten at Champs with plant-based friends and hardcore carnivores, and no one is ever disappointed. They have healthy bowls and salads to choose from, and plenty of not-so-healthy diner food options like pancakes, waffles and desserts. You're guaranteed a great meal. In order to get my fix of healthy food and greasy food, I almost always manage to convince my friends to share everything with me. So we split whichever items stand out most that day and we dig in together! And I almost forgot to mention they're very affordable too! This allows for you to try more than one dish, without breaking the bank! Definitely worth the trip! Especially to their new location, that is authentic diner-style. Check out Champs next time you're looking for a spectacular meal.
Peacefood is one of my favorite vegan spots in New York. They have two locations, one on the Upper West Side and one just south of Union Square. Both locations have an upbeat vibe and an extensive menu including salads, paninis, raw food items and my favorite appetizer; the mushroom dumplings! This photo is one of their dinner specials: grilled oyster mushrooms with sauteed kale, parsnip puree and roasted chickpeas. It blew my mind! Be sure to try their grilled seitan medallion panini, or their roasted vegetable panini. And don't leave without trying one, or three... of their incredible baked goods. Both locations has an extensive dessert menu, with all items on display for you to see before you pick which sweets will fit your craving. I have the biggest sweet tooth so it's not easy to pick favorites when it comes to dessert, but I recommend the gluten-free mint chocolate chip cookie sandwich called the "Grasshopper" and the carrot cake. Peacefood is definitely a must-try!
I adore Franchia because of its atmosphere, authentic Korean decor, and of course their well-done Asian fusion dishes. Franchia is just a hop, skip and a jump away from my office, so I find
myself making dinner plans here often, and I'm never disappointed. Offering a range of noodle dishes, tofu options, a variety of mock meats, and plenty of vegetable dishes to choose from, I've
never gotten the same thing twice, and I've enjoyed every meal. I've actually only dined with non-vegan friends at Franchia and none ever had a single complaint! Check out Franchia Cafe.
